INTERPRETATION

Simultaneous

Technical equipment rental

The most common type of interpretation; it is used in seminars, conferences, symposia and congresses and involves real-time oral translation.

Simultaneous interpreters usually work with only one target language (usually their mother tongue) although they may sometimes work with several.

This task involves continuous concentration that often requires interpreters to work in teams of two or three in a booth. Those attending the event receive the translated speech through receivers and headphones. Specific broadcasting media are required (booths, P.A. systems, receivers, etc.).

If using a booth is not an option, we find the right method, and often use the Sennheiser Inforport system. Although it was designed for guided tours and is not specific to simultaneous interpretation, it may still be efficiently used to this end.

Remote

With the emergence of phenomena, such as the pandemic, it has become clear that having to be physically present in a certain place is not mandatory when undertaking certain tasks. This is now true when it comes to interpreting, as thanks to the improvement of communication infrastructures and the development of new platforms (Skype, Zoom, Jitsi, among others) remote interpretations are now a daily event.

We take care of all related aspects so that speakers, their audience and interpreters are able to work in optimum conditions of quality, security and confidentiality.

Consecutive

(Press conferences, presentations, etc.) This type of interpretation is well-suited to events such as press conferences and interviews, show or product presentations, small-scale meetings, official lunches and dinners. The interpreters work facing the audience and next to the speakers. As the term indicates, the interpreter begins when the speaker has ended, with the speaker and the interpreter taking turns over the course of the event. Interpreters may take notes during lengthy discourses, before reproducing them in the corresponding language. This speciality does not normally require technical means. This type of interpretation requires the interpreter to have had experience in public speaking events, together with an excellent level of source language comprehension and expressive fluency in the target language. SERVILING® has experts who are ideally suited for this task.

Liason interpreting

(Meetings, visits, etc.) This technique is similar to consecutive interpreting, however here the interpreter acts as a mediator, and facilitates a dialogue between two or more people who speak different languages, translating each participants interjections. This activity requires an active command of languages to be able to work properly in all the linguistic directions needed. Liaison interpreters act as language aides for individual clients, and they work with small discussion groups, in commercial, factory and technical visits as well as in tourism and negotiations.
